New Gun Law goes into effect for Washington State on Jan 1, 2024

Infringement or not...You must comply with this new law to purchase a firearm in Washington State.
If you haven't heard....Washington State has passed a new gun legislation that will be affecting ALL Washington State residents. In a nutshell the days of going to your local gun store, buying a gun, getting a background check and having a 10-day waiting period is over. Well not quite. I mean...you will still need to do all of those things mentioned, but not before you get permission based on Washington's new gun legislation HB 1143.

This bill essentially states that you must obtain these training requirements before you can have permission to buy a gun. Many citizens are not aware of this so please spread the word.

The purchaser provides proof that he or she has completed a recognized firearm safety training program within the last five years that, at a minimum, includes instruction on:
-
Basic firearms safety rules
-
Firearms and children, including secure gun storage and talking to children about gun safety
-
Firearms and suicide prevention
-
Secure gun storage to prevent unauthorized access and use
-
Safe handling of firearms
-
State and federal firearms laws, including prohibited firearms transfers.
-
Use of deadly force laws in Washington state
-
Avoiding criminal attack and conflict resolution

The training must be sponsored by a nationally recognized organization that customarily offers firearms training, or a firearms training school with instructors certified by a nationally recognized organization that customarily offers firearms training".
The proof of training shall be in the form of a certificate that states under the penalty of perjury the training included the minimum requirements mentioned above.
